5 Great Flooring Options for Your New Bathroom

Are you thinking about remodeling your bathroom? Is it time to give your old room a fresh new look? There’s a lot to think about when it comes time to remodel a bathroom, and picking out materials is a very important part of the process. When it comes to choosing bathroom flooring, consider the cost, how the material reacts to moisture, how slippery the flooring is when wet, and, of course, how it works with your other bathroom material choices, as well as the rest of your home. Here are five great flooring options for bathrooms.
Ceramic Tile
Ceramic tile is fairly inexpensive. It’s a great option for bathroom floors because it’s waterproof, stain-resistant, and comes in a large variety of colors, styles, and even shapes! It also is a very durable and strong material so it is resistant to chips, scratches, and cracking. However, ceramic tile can be cold to the touch and slippery if not texturized. The smaller the tiles, the less slippery the floor will be when wet since more grout will be used across the surface. Homeowners also have the option of choosing a certified slip-resistant tile. And if you do go with a “cool” material, consider installing a radiant floor heating system underneath the flooring.
Sheet Linoleum
Linoleum is considered an eco-friendly option. It’s designed with biodegradable and renewable resources. It can come in many different colors and patterns and makes a great flooring option for the bathroom because of its resistance to moisture. One downside of linoleum is that it can succumb to staining. To combat its susceptibility, you can coat it with a protective layer to increase its durability and stain and scratch resistance. If you don’t purchase your sheet linoleum with a protective layer, it would be wise to polish it once every two years.
Vinyl (Sheet or Tile)
Vinyl is a popular choice for bathroom remodels. It’s generally the least inexpensive bathroom flooring option on the market and can come in thousands of different styles. Tiles are a bit easier to install, but they also tend to lift up off the floor over time and, since there are seams in between the tiles, it’s possible for water to seep underneath. Because of this, sheet vinyl may be the better option of the two, but either one is very practical.
Stone Tile
Stone tiles can be made of granite, marble, slate, limestone, or travertine and come in a wide variety of colors and textures. This is a beautiful option for bathroom flooring if you can afford it. Stone is very durable and moisture resistant. Stone tends to be pretty pricey, but as with every type of flooring material, prices can vary. Stone also requires maintenance and upkeep, including cleaning and sealing.
Cork
Now, you may not have even considered cork as a flooring material at all, but it’s becoming an increasingly popular choice for bathrooms for several reasons. Cork is a highly renewable and environmentally friendly material. It’s also moisture, mold, and mildew resistant! It does require a top coat, however, of polyurethane that should be reapplied every few years to protect it from moisture.

What our clients say about us
The team at Cyclone Contracting just finished up installing our new living room window and it looks amazing! Dave, Cody, Rodney and Hunter did amazing work, communicated great and treated our house like there own while they were here. Great experience!
We had Cyclone Contracting do a bathroom remodel. There were some hiccups along the way, as in almost any construction project, and they were handled promptly and professionally. We love our new bathroom!
We used Cyclone Contractors for the remodel of our bathroom and it was worth every penny. They worked hard to design a bathroom that was within our budget. It’s not only a beautiful bathroom but it’s functional for our lifestyle as well. Their team (subcontractors too) were all professional, responsive, and kind throughout the project.
Had my front porched remodeled by Cyclone Construction. The work they did was outstanding, and Nathan, Dave, Cody, and Milo were great to work with. Will definitely use them again if I've got any major remodeling work that I need to have done.
We hired Cyclone Contracting to put up blinds in our sunroom and we couldn't be happier! Michelle came out and was a huge help with the selection. I couldn't have done it without her. They came in yesterday after only four weeks and Dan and DJ came out today for the installation. They were great and very knowledgeable about their product. Everyone was fantastic from start to finish!
